New York City Vacation!

So last week Thomas, my dad, and I went to New York City. We took an Amtrak train from Tonawanda, New York, to New York, New York, basically across the state. The train to New York was nice and had decent wifi. About eight and a half hours into the trip the train went underground. At one time the train came out of the tunnel for a second, but during that that time I looked through the window an saw a sign on a wall, 49th Street. That let me know we were almost at our stop, Penn Station. When we got off the train at Penn Station I was met with more than I expected. The station itself was huge. It took us about ten minutes just to get out of the station. After we got out of the station we saw Madison Square Garden. The Empire State Building was right next to us and we didn’t notice.  We walked a mile to Times Square where our apartment was. The apartment had extremely good internet and was very small, but good enough to suit our needs. The first half day in NYC we just wandered. We walked down Fifth Avenue and went to a tourist shop. I got two plates with the Statue of Liberty on them, one silver for me and a golden one for mom when I got home. On the way to Fifth Avenue we went and saw the Grand Central Station. Just going inside was enough for me. It was amazing. After we went to the tourist shop we went to a store that was full of gem clusters and dinosaur fossils. New York City 040

The next day we went to a grocery store and bought a few things, and ate breakfast back at the apartment. After that we walked and walked, and WALKED down Fifth Avenue until we finally found something interesting, a Microsoft store. It was very cool and MY style, video game style :DDDDD. Okay that’s a lot. But yeah a lot of video game stuff in there, not much more to it.

Thomas and I in front of the Microsoft store.

The next stop was an Apple store, just a lot more crowded and boring. The Apple store had a bunch of tables with Mac books, Ipads, Iphones, and Ipods. It was more of a device store than a gaming store. We walked for even longer until we finally reached our destination, the Metropolitan Museum Of Art.

Can You Believe that this isn’t a room?

First we saw some wood working from the Italian Renaissance. It was pretty cool, but almost nothing to me than our next stop the arms and armor. It’s no wonder that only rich soldiers could wear this stuff and almost never be killed (however I’m glad i never had to wear it, it was fifty five pounds for men’s armor, and sixty five for horses).

A horse and Knight in armor.

Me in front of a knight and Horse.

The armor was amazing. There was almost no part where the body wasn’t covered by heavy metal. Maybe one tiny part just above the legs was uncovered, and the knights would be riding a horse. Next we saw Greek and Roman statues of basically naked men like Perseus and Hercules.

Two temples brought to America from Egypt.

Also we went to the Ancient Egypt area and saw some cool things like temples brought from Egypt to America because they would have been submerged, and the Egyptian government wanted to save them. We also saw some Pharaoh statues, well actually tons of them. That was about all we did at the Met.

Overlooking the entrance of the Met from a balcony.

The Met happened to be about four miles away from our apartment so we took the subway to a further place where we met one of Dad’s friends. We went to Brooklyn with Dad’s friend and got pizza, (because of my allergies I had to get a hamburger and chips.) We talked a little bit after we ate dinner, and then we took the subway back to Times Square. I played a little Minecraft, and then I went to bed. The next day the guy who owned the apartment came and told us a good place to store our stuff until we came back for it to leave. After we stored our stuff we took a subway to the new World Trade Center.

The World Trade Center.

After we saw the Trade Center we walked to the Staten Island Ferry. The Ferry went right by the Statue of Liberty , which was the main reason we went on the Ferry.

The Statue of Liberty.

When we went back to Manhattan we saw an awesome view of the city with the World Trade Center looming over all the buildings. We took the subway back to Times Square and got our stuff from the storage center and almost ran to Penn Station, almost. When we got on the train we found out that it was a lot nicer than the other one, the reason being that it was an overnight train. At one point near the beginning of the trip the wifi went completely out until we got to Albany, where it performed a lot better than the other train for the whole trip. We got back home at 1 AM.

By the end of our trip we had walked a total of TEN MILES!  I thought that the fact that we got to stay right by Times Square and still be able to sleep at night was very cool. Altogether New York, the biggest city in America, home of some of the biggest buildings in the world, was amazing.

Starting Minecraft Eggwars (Money Wars)

Around the beginning of June (Today be July 20th) I started playing a Minecraft Minigame called Egg wars. It is always called Money Wars by Youtubers. Most of the people who play Egg wars including me play it on an awesome server called Cubecraft. The point of the game is to collect iron, gold, and diamond tokens for gear, blocks and food. The best way to spend your tokens is spend iron on a wooden or stone sword or axe, food and sandstone blocks. Gold is used for tier 2 gear like chain mail gear and iron weapons, its also use to buy obsidian for you egg’s protection, you need to protect your egg or otherwise you will no longer be able to respawn when you die after your egg is broken. You also use gold for arrows and golden apples. You use diamond tokens to buy tier 3 gear, diamond sword, bow, iron armor, player tracker, and god apples, and no you can not get a crafting table and make diamond gear.

The best way to play the game as a beginner is to max out your island only going to center to get 5 diamonds to activate yours (not all maps have diamond gens on a players base). If your very protective break your bridge to mid (This method however is not recommended by Youtubers or me). Obsidian costs ten gold each which is more expensive then i sounds, you need 5 pieces of obsidian (50 gold) to 90% protect your egg (unless you are doing overpowered items mode (exclusive to Cubecraft) where obsidian costs 3 gold). (It is never 100% protected because obby is not unbreakable). I still am a freak about doing this before I adventure to center.

I started playing eggwars after my brother on Jartex network  which always gave me bad ping so I quickly moved over to Cubecraft. I never bothered to obsidian my egg when i was new to the game and i always lost :(. Soon i learned that i would never win until i obbied my egg so I always obbied my egg and then went to center and back to activate my diamond genner, then I’d sit at my base getting stacked. “But Jack.” said Mitch (not really,  “you wont win by sitting at your base, you gotta get to work breaking eggs not relying on everyone else to do it so you can wreck them.”

After watching Mitch play eggwars for the first time i no longer sat at my base, i won WAY more, like WAY MORE. And now here i am, an awesome eggwars player, not sitting at base, obbying the egg, winning, getting expensive kits way quicker. Have fun guys remember, Obsidian, Good gear, Aggression, and you’ll do fine, See ya!

Chapter 2

Legien Terror

About an hour after we encountered the pack of monsters, we started to hear shouts of soldiers and the clang of swords hitting each other.

“Slow your horse down Alex,” I said as we reached EpicjetMan1780’s castle.

We crept over to an entrance at the very back of the castle that was clear from Legien soldiers.

“Open up!” I shouted.

I saw a head peer over the wall, and before I knew it, the door opened, and the instant we got in, it closed. I led Alexander to EpicjetMan1780’s base and knocked on the door.

“General Gregor?” asked a voice from inside, which I recognized as EpicjetMan1780’s.

“No Jonathan!” I shouted as I tied Black Jet and Klien to a pole.

Then the door opened and there was EpicJetMan1780 himself.

“You’re here already!” said EpicJetMan1780 in surprise, “Come in.”

Alex and I came into Epic’s cabin and found a sword, a set of armor, and a magic bow which didn’t need arrows.

“That’s for you Jona… Who’s this?” Asked EpicjetMan1780.

“I am Alexander Lonsho, Jonathan’s best friend.” said Alexander.

“Thank you for coming Alexander. Let me get a set of battle gear for you. And in a blink of an eye he disappeared, and in five seconds he appeared in the same spot, but next to my set of armor and weapons was a set for Alexander.

“Could we also have two sets of armor for our horses?” I asked.

“Sure,” said EpicjetMan1780, and before he finished saying sure a set of armor appeared on Black Jet and Klien, without us knowing.

As soon as Epic left, Alex and I put on our armor and mounted our horses after getting over how Epic got the armor to appear on the horses. Then we crept behind the Legien forces. After I told Alexander my plan, we charged in and laid waste to a whole section of the army, but like my plan we had to run to a hiding spot. We tied Black Jet and Klien to a tree, then climbed it.

“Get your bow out Alex!” I whispered. “We’ve hunted animals, we can hunt Legiens!”

I locked my target on a Legien commander, while waiting for the barrage to load (A special thing about EpicjetMan1780’s mega bows that make them shoot seven extra arrows), then fired. My shot hit its mark and the barrage hit five out of seven more extra shots. Then Alexander’s shots hit another commander and five extra hits. With two sections without commanders the Legiens panicked. Alex and I climbed down and rode into battle. I charged in to fight with my sword, while Alexander stayed behind and fired arrows. This strategy totally worked, and we laid waste to the remaining soldiers of the section. While Alex was firing arrows he must’ve shot another commander because I saw a Legien commander on the ground, but I was too exhausted to sword fight any more, so Alexander and I switched positions. I started firing arrows while Alex sword fought, and we destroyed another section.

We rode to the back entrance and met EpicjetMan1780 in his cabin.

“How on earth did you do that boys?” asked EpicjetMan1780.

“I don’t know, but I do know that Alex and I really need to rest a bit.” I said.

“All right, you can stay in my base today, but tonight you are not going to get much sleep because we fight at night. And tomorrow you need to get your own tent and supplies

Chapter One

The Monster

It had been just over three weeks since I got back from Epica, the capital city of EpicjetMan1780’s kingdom, and I could not stop talking about the things I had seen on my visit. Then three weeks and two days after I got home, the doorbell rang. I went and answered the door. It wasn’t my friend Alexander like I expected. It was a commander from EpicJetMan1780’s army!

“Hello Jonathan, this is a letter from EpicJetMan1780,” said the commander.

“Thanks.” I said.

The letter said:

Dear Jonathan,

I need your help very much at this

time. The capital city of my kingdom

it being attacked by Legeina’s biggest

and best army. Don’t ask any questions.

Just come as soon as you can.

After reading the letter I went to my mother’s bedroom and got through her fit, which was surprisingly not too bad. I got my sword (in this world [and kingdom especially] every man ten years and up has a sword) , and then left after saying goodbye to my little brother, Lucas.

As I mounted Black Jet, my horse (nine years up, mostly guys, they all have horses), I heard a scream from Alexander’s house. I rushed over to see what was the matter. I found Alexander in his backyard running from a small green monster. Despite it’s small size, I knew it could be extremely dangerous, shooting poisonous projectiles at it’s victim. I distracted the monster and lured him into a area where he would not poison Alexander’s property. Then I took my sword out of it’s sheath and sliced the monsters head off. I galloped away, but before I was to the next house, Alexander called,” Jonathan! Were are you going? Come back.”

So I went back to Alexanders house and asked, “What do want?”

“I want to know were you’re going.”

“I’m going to EpicJetMan1780’s fortress in Epica to help him defend it from the Legiens.”

“Can I come with you?” asked Alexander.

“Sure, Ask your mom though! Just make sure and bring a horse and a sword.” I replied.

Then Alexander went into his house and came back with a sword, but he also had

brought two helmets for us to wear. Then he got his horse Klein.

We both put on the helmets Alexander had brought with his sword and then rode off to

EpicjetMan1780’s castle.

When we were about half way to the castle, Alexander and I encountered a pack of four more poisons monsters about to devour a girl who couldn’t be more than five years old. We charged in and killed every monster, then dragged them to the nearest area without houses.jmarden1 001.png

March 3 on 3 Hockey Tournament.

In early March I went to a hockey 3 on 3 tournament in Canada. My team was named the Buffalo Wings. I personally didn’t really like the name, but it didn’t matter. Our team won our first game. I think the final score was nine to six. Then we tied our second game nine to nine.  Our team was in first or second place after that! (: My whole team stayed at the same hotel that night. After our games were over, we went to a Boston Pizza restaurant on Clifton Hill. The restaurant had a whole half filled with arcade games, lots of fun. After my team ate, we went back to the hotel and swam for I don’t know how long, two hours? After that we played mini sticks hockey with too many rules until it was time to eat supper. We went to an Italian restaurant that I couldn’t eat anything at because of my allergies. ): Luckily my Dad had gone back home to pick up a few things, one of which was a supper for me. After our team got back from the restaurant, we played mini sticks until almost midnight (Very late saying we’re a bunch of ten-year-olds). The next morning at the rink we got walloped by a team that had had practice for the tournament nine to nothing, unfair. ): In another hour we played our last game. Right before the first half ended I was going to the boards to get the puck and someone ran me into the boards. “I’m alright stop asking! Maybe it hurt a bit at first.” Our team won the game I think eight to five against the team we beat nine to six and finished the tournament in third place (: [: (:  .
